Michael Toost (born December 15, 1927 in Vienna ; † June 18, 1983 there ) was an Austrian actor .

Life

While studying acting, he married Maria, with whom he had a son and a daughter. After graduating, he decided on the stage name Michael Toost , which he thought was more suitable for his career than his real name Piglmaier .

As a particularly devout Catholic and religious person, Michael Toost often and happily spent a lot of time at Heiligenkreuz Abbey in the Vienna Woods , where he often made himself available for readings.

In addition to his theater work, Toost has also appeared in a number of films ( Wienerinnen , Die Wirtin von Maria Wörth , Ewiger Walzer , The fear of the goalie at the penalty kick , Der Junge Freud , ...) and many television series ( Der alten Richter , Der Kommissar , Derrick , Tatort , Kottan determined ) and was used in many radio plays thanks to its unmistakable voice. His role on television was - in contrast to his actual personality - mostly that of an underhanded opportunist and petty crook.

In 1979 he was seen as a fat cousin in Jedermann at the Salzburg Festival .

Michael Toost is buried at the Hütteldorf cemetery (group 7, row 10, number 13).
