Michael Vietz (born November 16, 1968 in Hameln ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2013 to 2017 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Life and work

Michael Vietz completed his school days in Hameln by attending the Catholic elementary school, the North Orientation Level, the Sertürner Realschule and the Business School. After graduating from high school , he completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Deutsche Bank in Hameln.

After his military service in Northeim and Hildesheim in 1990/91 , Michael Vietz studied economics at the University of Hanover . At the beginning of 2000 he graduated with a degree in economics .

During his studies, Michael Vietz worked at the direct bank Bank GiroTel AG in Hanover in customer dialogue. In the meantime, Bank GiroTel AG has been taken over by ING-DiBa AG . He was also involved in customer dialog at ING-DiBa, since 2001 as a team leader. In the Hanover location he has been involved in the works council since 2007 . The employment contract has been suspended since his election to the German Bundestag.

Michael Vietz is Roman Catholic and single. He lives in Hameln in the Hameln-Pyrmont district .

Political party

Michael Vietz became a member of the Junge Union (JU) in October 1987 , from which he left in 2003 after reaching the age limit. He was district chairman of the JU Hameln-Pyrmont 1991–1995 and 1997–2003, 1990–1994 member of the district board of the JU Hannover, since 1992 as deputy district chairman, and 1994–1996 member of the state board of the JU Lower Saxony.

In September 1988 Michael Vietz joined the CDU. 1999–2004 he was chairman of the Hameln-West local association, 2004–2014 chairman of the CDU city association of Hameln. In July 2014 he took over the office of district chairman of the CDU Hameln-Pyrmont. In addition, he was a member of the district committee of the CDU Hanover from 1997 to 2013 and again as an assessor since 2015.

Michael Vietz is a member of the CDU's SME and Business Association (MIT) and the CDU's Local Political Association (KPV).

Elected officials

From November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2016, Michael Vietz was a member of the City Council of Hameln. Here he was a member of the Committee for Day Care Centers, Schools and Sports, and was a deputy member of the Administrative Committee from 2011-2014. He represented the city of Hameln on the supervisory board of Hameln Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (chairman since September 1, 2015, term of office ended in September 2017) and in the housing aid foundation. He did not stand for re-election for the 2016 local elections.

He was also a member of the Hameln-Pyrmont district council from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2016 . Here he was deputy chairman of the youth welfare committee and was a full member of the school committee from 2011 to 2014.

In October 2012 Michael Vietz was elected as a direct candidate for the CDU in the constituency 46 Hameln-Pyrmont-Holzminden . In the 2013 federal election he achieved a first vote result of 39.57%, the direct mandate went to the SPD with 42.33%. He moved into the German Bundestag over 24th place on the CDU state list of Lower Saxony . There he was a full member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Petitions , as well as a deputy member of the Committee on European Union Affairs . Since June 2014, he has also been the deputy chairman of the sub-committee for civilian crisis prevention, conflict management and networked action. He was also a member of the supervisory board of the Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF) and a member of the advisory board for civilian crisis prevention.

Vietz was also elected a direct candidate in the Hameln-Pyrmont-Holzminden constituency for the 2017 federal election in October 2016. In the election, the direct mandate again won the SPD. The 19th place on the CDU state list for Lower Saxony was not enough this time for a return to the German Bundestag.
