Michael Vollmer

Michael Vollmer (* 1957 ) is a German physicist and professor at the Technical University of Brandenburg .

Life

After graduating from high school , Michael Vollmer studied physics at Heidelberg University and graduated in 1983 with a diploma . In 1986 he received his doctorate with a thesis on binding energies of Na clusters. In 1991 he completed his habilitation at the University of Heidelberg and then worked as a private lecturer in Kassel . Vollmer has been Professor of Experimental Physics at the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences since 1994 .

Vollmer was awarded the Robert Wichard Pohl Prize for 2013.

Focus

Vollmer's focus and interests are optics , spectroscopy , thermography , didactics of physics, phenomena of atmospheric optics, freehand and demonstration experiments for schools and universities. He is also active in the further training of physics teachers.
