Michael W. Driesch

Michael W. Driesch (born November 9, 1963 in Duisburg ) is a German filmmaker , author and entrepreneur .

Life

Driesch studied economics grew in Duisburg-Rheinhausen on, with final degree in business administration at the University of Duisburg and a PhD from the University of Witten / Herdecke to Dr. rer. pole. He is a member of Intertel .

He has been making short films since 1979, including the 1999 mystery film Carmare , with Barbara Schöneberger and Steffen Gräbner in the leading roles.

In 2003 he founded the Mallorca Film Academy (MFA), whose advisory board included Dieter Wedel , Hannes Jaenicke , Detlev Buck and the Spanish Oscar winner Fernando Trueba . The company moved to Munich in 2007 and changed its name to "Munich Film Academy".

In 2008 he shot the mockumentary Die Eylandt Recherche under the pseudonym Doc Miguel . The film flopped at the box office.

On November 9, 2017, Driesch's children's fantasy film Max Topas - The Book of Crystal Children, based on the novel of the same name by Miguel G. Baldío, premiered in the UCI Kinowelt in Düsseldorf. The film was the opening film of the 30th Bielefeld Children's Film Festival 2018 and won the festival as "Best Film". German cinema distributor is W-film from Cologne.

In November and December 2018 Driesch shot his first international, English-language feature film, Frieda - Coming Home , which celebrated its world premiere at the Snowdance Independent Film Festival in January 2020 . The mystery thriller takes place in New York and in a house on the Niepkuhlen in Krefeld.

After a few years on Mallorca, Driesch now lives in Düsseldorf . He is the managing director of a film production SE in Düsseldorf, managing director of a consulting and investment company and has been working as an author and ghostwriter since the 1990s.

Trivia

In 1978 Driesch was an inmate of the Spantax passenger plane coming from Mallorca , which landed at Cologne-Bonn airport without warning with retracted landing gear and caught fire. In 1999 he was named "Mr. Bald" by the readers of "com! Online".
