A young American couple, Mark and Olivia, are expecting their first child. Before that, the two of them would like to make their dream of a European trip come true. They book numerous private accommodations via an internet portal and embark on a journey lasting several weeks. When they arrive in Germany, they are picked up at the airport by Elisabeth, the manager of their first accommodation, a small house on an enchanted lake. They learn that the landlady, an elderly lady, is dying. Elisabeth brings Mark and Olivia to the house and instructs them. And then the two young people spend their first night in Germany. The night when Mark gets to know the landlady in a special way ... When the manager returns the next morning, there is an oppressive silence over the house by the lake. And nobody will find out so quickly what happened a few hours earlier ...

Specialty

The film was funded entirely through the appreciation of bitcoins . The producer bought the cryptocurrency in 2013 for a few thousand euros and sold it at the end of 2017 with a profit, which was used for the production of the film. It took less than 10 months from the decision to write the script and shoot the film to the completion of filming in December 2018. In June 2019, the final version of the film was shown for the first time as part of a team preview in Düsseldorf.

Soundtrack

The film music was written by the German conductor and film composer Michael Klubertanz . It is based on the classic scores of mystery productions. The solo piano occupies a central position, accompanied by various strings. In contrast, there are long, atmospheric passages that underline the desolation of the motif. No synthesizers were used in the musical implementation, only organic original recordings of children's tones and acoustic instruments.
