Mikhail Borisovich Pukschanski
Michail Borissowitsch Pukschanski ( Russian Михаил Борисович Пукшанский ; * February 6, 1952 ) is a Russian chess player and coach.
Life
Pukshansky was taught chess in the Leningrad Pioneer Palace. After graduating from school, he studied at the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute. In the Soviet youth championship in Belzy in 1969 , he shared the 9th – 15th. Place with Georgi Agsamow , Josif Dorfman , Sergei Makarytschew and other players. In 1971 he won the Leningrad team championship with Spartak . He was fourth with the Leningrad selection at the All-Union Chess Olympiad 1972 in Moscow on the second youth board. In the city championships of Leningrad, he finished in 1974 on the shared seventh and 1978 shared fifth place. Since 1972 he has held the title of Master of Sports of the USSR , the required standard he fulfilled in the championship of the Leningrad Sports Association Spartak .
In correspondence chess , Pukschanski shared eleventh place at the XIV. Individual Championship of the USSR, which took place in the years 1979-1980. He was eighth in the individual ranking on the second board in the IX. Soviet team championship (1988–1990) with the selection of his hometown. In the IV. Baltic Sea Tournament (1980-1985) he fulfilled an IM standard, but it was not until 1992 that he achieved the title of International Master in Correspondence Chess.
From 1983 Pukschanski worked as a trainer in the chess school at the Leningrad State Zhdanov University . In this role he looked after players like Valeri Salow , Vasily Jemelin and Alexei Lugowoi. At times, he worked in the Dvoretsky - Yusupov -Schule. He was awarded the honorary title of Honored Coach of Russia for his achievements .
He reached his highest Elo rating of 2405 in May 1974.
