Mikhail Pavlovich Wassiljew

Mikhail Pavlovich Vasiliev ( Russian Михаил Павлович Васильев * 13. May 1924 in Tschinejewo, Rajon Jurgamyschski, Oblast Urals , RSFSR , USSR , † 14 August 1990 in Leningrad ) was a Soviet theater - and film - actor .

Life and accomplishments

Vasilyev graduated from school in 1942 and participated as a member of the Soviet Navy in the German-Soviet War , in which he was seriously wounded.

After being demobilized in 1949, Vasilyev began his acting career in 1950 at the Blagoveschensk Regional Drama Theater , today's Amur Drama Theater , where he also completed his training in 1952. Until then, he was also an instructor at the Seiski Rajon Culture House. After engagements on various stages, Vasilyev appeared at the Leningrad Theater of Film Actors from 1960 .

The heavyweight mime made his film debut in The Silent Don , directed by Sergei Gerasimow . He appeared in over 60 films over the next 30 years, focusing on characteristic supporting roles . From 1960 to 1987 Wassiljew was under contract with Lenfilm . On his work are more fictional works as Кочубей ( Kotschubei , 1958) by Arkady Perwenzew and Virgin Soil Upturned (1960) by Mikhail Sholokhov , the fantasy films The Night Before Christmas and The Snow Queen and the Soviet- Czechoslovak coproduction Большая дорога ( Bolshaya doroga ) or Velká cesta (1962), which is based on Jaroslav Hašek's service in World War I. He left in Имя ( Imja ) in 1988 .

In addition to his work in front of the camera, Wassiljew could be heard as a narrator in the animated film Возвращение с Олимпа (Woswrisschenije s Olimpa , 1969) and in the Russian-language version of Potato Fritz (1976).

He died at the age of 66 and was buried in the Leningrad North Cemetery.

Mikhail Pavlovich Wassiljew was not identical to any of the two Red Army commanders of the same name .

Vasilyev was married three times, the first marriage had a son named Vyacheslav and the second a daughter named Victoria. His third wife was the actress and director Valentina Pavlovna Kravchenko (1923-2007), who also worked for Lenfilm .
