Michal Klimeš (born February 14, 1985 ) is a Czech grass skier . He won five medals at junior world championships and has finished three times in the top ten in world cup races .
Career
Klimeš celebrated his first major successes at the 2003 Junior World Championships in Goldingen . He won the silver medal in the slalom and with twelfth place in the Super-G also bronze in the combination. After a fifth place in the Super-G was his best result at the 2004 Junior World Championships , Klimeš won three medals again at the 2005 Junior World Championship in Nové Město na Moravě . He was second in giant slalom, third in slalom and with 14th place in Super-G also third in the combination.
In September 2003 the Czech took part in a world championship in the general class for the first time. His only result was 17th place in the giant slalom. At the 2005 World Championships in Dizin he reached ninth place in slalom and in combination, as well as 21st place in Super-G and 26th place in giant slalom. In 2007 he was only able to classify himself in the back field at the World Championships in Olešnice v Orlických horách . He was 39th in the giant slalom, 41st in the super combined and 50th in the super G. At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach , he was able to improve a little. He finished 20th in the Super Combined, 31st in the Super-G and 35th in the giant slalom. As he did two years ago, he did not finish in the slalom.
Klimeš achieved his best results in the World Cup in 2005 and 2006. In the 2005 season he came in twelfth place in the first World Cup slalom in L'Aquila and several top 10 results in FIS races, including a win in the slalom in Marbachegg , tied with his compatriot Jan Gardavský in 15th place overall. In the 2006 season his best World Cup result was the sixth place in the slalom of Sattel and with another three top 20 results and a few top 10 results in FIS races, he finished 16th overall. In the next three years he was only able to place 30th in the overall World Cup, but was twice in the top ten in World Cup races. In the 2010 season , however, the Czech remained without points at his only World Cup start. In 2011 Klimeš did not start in any international competitions, but continued to take part in races in the Czech Cup. In 2012 he did not contest any races in the Czech Cup.
Since 2001, Klimeš has also been taking part in alpine skiing competitions. He has been in the top 20 three times in FIS races so far.
