Michal Lobkowicz

Michal Lobkowicz (born July 20, 1964 in Prague ) is a Czech politician and minister.

Life

Michal Lobkowicz comes from the noble Lobkowitz family and is a geologist. After completing his studies, he worked at the Czech Geological Institute from 1987 to 1992.

During the Velvet Revolution he was active in the citizens' forum , in January 1990 he then joined the newly founded Christian Democratic Party (KDS) and was elected to parliament in June 1990. From 1993 to 1996 he worked in the Foreign Ministry, in 1996 he was re-elected to parliament, this time for the ODS .

On January 2, 1998, he was appointed Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic . After the Social Democrats took over government, he resigned in July 1998. He was a member of parliament until 2002.

He has been married to Lucie Navrátilová since 1989 and has two children.
