Jaroslav Tvrdík (born September 11, 1968 in Prague ) is a former Czech politician of the ČSSD and manager. He was Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic from 2001 to 2003.

Life

Tvrdík studied at the military college in Vyškov . He then began to work as an official in the Minister of Defense. From 1992 to 1993 he was with the UNPROFOR protection force in the Yugoslav war , for which he received the UN medal . In 2000 Tvrdík was made a lieutenant colonel. In the same year he became Deputy Minister of Defense for Economic Affairs. In 2001 he joined the social democratic party ČSSD.

On May 4, 2001, Tvrdík was appointed Minister of Defense in the Miloš Zeman government. In the House of Representatives election in 2002 , he won a seat as a member of parliament. In the then formed Vladimír Špidla government , Tvrdík retained the ministerial post. He resigned on June 3, 2003.

From 2003 to 2006 Tvrdík was the director of Czech Airlines .
