Antonín Baudyš (born September 9, 1946 in Prague ; † August 23, 2010 ibid) was a Czech politician, physicist and astrologer .

Life

Baudyš studied from 1964 to 1969 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague and was then employed at the Faculty of Mechanics and Optics of this university until 1989.

Baudyš had been a member of the ČSL since 1970, and later the KDU-ČSL . He was Deputy Prime Minister of the ČSSR from 1989 to 1992 and of the ČSFR in 1992. From 1992 to 1994 he was Minister of Defense in the cabinet of Václav Klaus . During his tenure, he was accused of a number of affairs and incidents, including firearms use on a flight to Sweden in 1994 when his bodyguard shot through the floor of the plane. As a result of further scandals in the army and because of his controversial proposal for a solution to the conflict in Bosnia, which had not been consulted with the government, he was removed from office. In 1996 he ran unsuccessfully in the Senate elections.

Baudyš advocated the right of every adult citizen to own their own firearm and to carry out shooting exercises for the purpose of self-defense; In 1998 he was at the founding of the association LEX, which is supposed to represent the gun owners, and became its chairman. After finishing his political career, he devoted himself to astrology and prophesied a. a. for 2003 the death of George W. Bush .

Baudyš was married twice. In 1970 he married Zuzana and they divorced in 2010. He married again three weeks later. He died of a brain tumor.
