The House of Representatives elections in the Czech Republic in 2002 took place on June 14th and 15th, 2002. In the election, the members of the House of Representatives were redefined.

Electoral system

The House of Representatives was elected using proportional representation. There was a 5% threshold . The legislative period was 4 years.

Participating parties

A total of 29 different parties ran for election.

Election result

The winner of the election was the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) with a slight loss of votes. The Democratic Citizens' Party (ODS) was able to maintain its position as the second strongest force, but also suffered slight losses. The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) recorded the largest increase in votes with 7.48% and was still the third strongest party in the House of Representatives with a total of 18.51% . The Christian Democratic People's Party (KDU-ČSL) ran for elections in a coalition with the Free Democratic Union (US-DEU) and won 14.27% of the votes cast. The coalition thus lagged behind the result that both parties had achieved as individual applicants in 1998.
