Election result

Strongest party by district (orange: ČSSD, blue: ODS)

The Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) emerged as the strongest force, increasing by 5.87 to a total of 32.31 percentage points and thus receiving the most seats. The conservative Democratic Citizens' Party (ODS), previously the strongest force, lost slightly and became only the second largest party. However, this was not counted as a defeat, as the party had split as a result of the previous government crisis and the fact that Václav Klaus remained on the position of party chairman and surveys had meanwhile rated it significantly worse: The Freedom Union (US), newly founded by the internal party opponents Klaus , pulled with 8.60% in the House of Representatives. The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) and the Christian Democratic Union (KDU-ČSL) made slight gains.
