Michel Lang
Michel Jules Jean Marcel Lang (born June 9, 1939 in Paris , † April 24, 2014 in Saint-Arnoult , Calvados , France ) was a French film director who made a name for himself in the 1970s and 1980s with popular film comedies.
Live and act
The son of the finance director Henri Lang and his wife Suzanne Monte went to school at the Lycée Chaptal in Paris and then studied at the Sorbonne , where he graduated (Bachelor) in American and French literature. Lang then received his all-round cinematic training at the renowned Parisian Institut des hautes études cinématographiques . At the beginning of the 1960s he made his own short films for the first time and was otherwise primarily as an assistant director for conventional and internationally produced entertainment films such as OSS 117 - Pulverfaß Bahia , Diamanten-Billard , Fantomas versus Interpol , Sharp curves for Madame , Haie ask at the table , Die Blond von Beijing and twelve plus one active.
Lang achieved a veritable box-office success in 1976 with his full-length feature film directing debut, Her with the Little English Women. Light and airy summer comedies with sometimes piquant eroticism became Lang's specialty from then on; Above all with his two connection works The Strandhotel and A Spicy Gift , he was able to build on his debut a few years earlier to some degree commercially. His later productions were no longer able to reach the public's taste, and he almost only directed television films, including the 1991 German production Mord im Atomkraftwerk . He also wrote the script for most of his work. Lang, who contracted Alzheimer's in the 2000s , died in Normandy in spring 2014 and was buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris.
