Michel Sadelain

Michel JW Sadelain (* 1960 ) is an immunologist and cancer researcher at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center . Here he is founding director of the Center for Cell Engineering and head of the Gene Transfer and Gene Expression Laboratory . Sadelain is considered - together with Carl H. June - as a pioneer of CAR-T-cell therapy , a cancer immunotherapy . He also works on stem cell therapy for various blood formation disorders .

Sadelain obtained an MD from the University of Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris in 1984 with the thesis Étude du système antigène-anticorps SSA dans le syndrome de Sjögren et le lupus érythémateux disséminé, relation avec le système SSB and in 1989 a Ph.D. at the University of Alberta in Canada . Sadelain was elected an active member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation in 2003 . In 2012 he received the William B. Coley Award from the Cancer Research Institute and in 2018 both the Passano Award from the Passano Foundation and the Pasteur-Weizmann / Servier International Prize , and in 2019 the Gabbay Award and the Prix ​​International de l'INSERM .
