Microsporum is a genus of filamentous fungi that belong to the Fungi imperfecti . They are important as the causative agent of microsporia . These are dermatophytoses , i.e. fungal diseases of the skin.

features

The macroconidia are thin to thick-walled, ovoid to spindle-shaped, rough and divided into many chambers by up to 15 septa. They sit on the hyphae individually. Microconidia are always present.
