Tessel Tina Middag (born December 23, 1992 in Almere ) is a Dutch soccer player who is used both in midfield and in attack . She won the Dutch Cup with two clubs - ADO Den Haag and Ajax Amsterdam - and has been playing for the Netherlands women's national team since 2012 .

Club career

Middag first played on October 3, 2011 for ADO Den Haag and was used a total of 18 times during the season, scoring ten goals. She made a significant contribution to winning the championship and crowned the season by winning the Dutch Women's Cup. After the season she moved to the newly established women's football department at Ajax Amsterdam . With Ajax, she won the Dutch Women's Cup again in 2014. After two years at Ajax, she moved to Manchester City on June 3, 2016 . She won the FA WSL and FA WSL Cup double in her debut season before announcing her departure from Manchester in June 2018. Middag signed with West Ham United on July 16, 2018 . Another cruciate ligament tear prevented her from being used in the 2018/19 season, and she only got fit again in the 2019/20 season.

National teams

She made her debut in the orange jersey on October 10, 2007 at the age of 14 in qualifying for the 2008 U-17 European Women's Football Championship at the mini-tournament in Poland . Together with the hosts, the team qualified for the second round, but failed in this in March 2008 to England. In October the team started a new attempt and Middag was back in the first qualifying round in Turkey . The second round was reached with three wins and 14: 0 goals. In this, the team failed in March 2009 to France. Middag then played for the U-19 team from 2010. On March 27, 2010, at the age of 17, she made her first appearance in the U-19 national team. In qualifying for the U-19 European Women's Football Championship in 2010 , she played a game in the mini-tournament in the second qualifying round. At the finals in Macedonia she was not there. The next time she tried, she was back on board. In September 2010, at a tournament in Norway, the hosts reached the second round and also survived this at a tournament in Denmark. This time she was at the finals in Italy , but her team was already out in the preliminary round. This ended her time as a junior national player.

Then the following year she made her debut in the 15 February 2012 senior team at a 1: 2 defeat to France . At the Cyprus Cup in 2012 , she came to two missions and then took part in other games. In 2013 she was only used in two games at the Cyprus Cup 2013 and was not part of the Dutch squad at the European Championship finals , in which the Dutch were eliminated after the preliminary round. After the European Championship, it was used in some qualifying games for the 2015 World Cup and the 2014 Cyprus Cup . In September 2014, the World Cup qualification was finished in second place behind Norway . The Dutch women therefore had to go to the playoffs of the four best runners-up in the group and prevailed against Scotland and Italy , qualifying for the World Cup for the first time. At the Cyprus Cup 2015 , for which Middag was also nominated, the qualifications could not be confirmed and they lost e.g. B. the game for 7th place against the Scottish women, who they had eliminated in the World Cup playoffs. On April 15, 2015 she was initially appointed to the provisional squad for the 2015 World Cup and then to the final squad on May 10. At the World Cup she was substituted on in the first group game against New Zealand in the 84th minute. In the second game against China she was in the starting line-up, but was replaced after 70 minutes. In the round of 16 against Japan , she was substituted on when the score was 2-0 in the 86th minute. The Dutch women succeeded in the follow-up goals in stoppage time, but that was no longer enough to prevent them from being eliminated.

In 2017 she took part in the Algarve Cup with the team and was used in two group games and the game for 5th place against Japan, in which the revenge for the World Cup last sixteen was achieved. It was then used in two friendly matches in April. Due to an injury, she was not considered for the subsequent EM preparation and the EM in her home country. She could not be nominated again until May 2018. Another knee injury prevented their use. The 2019 World Cup, in which the Dutch took second place, also took place without them due to another cruciate ligament tear.
