Midori Seiler
Midori Seiler (born February 18, 1969 in Osaka ) is a German - Japanese violinist specializing in baroque and classical music.
Life
Midori Seiler is the daughter of a Japanese pianist and a Bavarian pianist. She grew up in Salzburg . It was there that she began studying music with Helmut Zehetmair and Sándor Végh . Further stations of her training took her to Switzerland at the Basel Conservatory with Adelina Oprean and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Thomas Hengelbrock , to London to David Takeno and finally to Berlin, where she completed her studies with the concert exam with Eberhard Feltz.
During her time in Basel, she was concertmaster of the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra. Since 1991 she has been a member of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin (Akamus) , one of the most respected European baroque orchestras. Her recording of Mozart's seven great Viennese violin sonatas on the French Zig Zag label was awarded the Diapason d'Or of 2002 and the Choc du Monde de la Musique .
With Akamus and Anima Eterna , the orchestra of the Belgian fortepiano specialist Jos van Immerseel , Seiler has played violin concerts from the baroque and classical repertoire in the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Musikvereinssaal in Vienna and many other European cities.
She led masterclasses in Bruges and Antwerp and was professor for baroque violin and viola at the Liszt School of Music Weimar from 2010 to 2013 and has taught at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2014 .
