Midvaal ( English Midvaal Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Sedibeng district , Gauteng Province in South Africa . The seat of the local government is in Meyerton . The mayor is Bongani Baloyi.

In 2011 the community had 95,301 inhabitants. Of these, 58.4% were black, 38.7% white, 1.6% colored and 0.8% Indian or Asian .

The first language was Afrikaans (30.2%), Sesotho ( 27.3%) , English (13.7%), isiZulu ( 11.5%) , isiXhosa ( 5.2%) , Sepedi ( 1.8%) , Xitsonga ( 1.7%) , 1.6% Setswana , 0.9% isiNdebele , 0.5% Tshivenda and 2.3% another language.
