Miguel Ángel Álvarez
Miguel Ángel Álvarez ( "Johnny el Men" ; born August 25, 1928 in San Juan , † January 16, 2011 in Guaynabo ) was a Puerto Rican actor and film director .
After attending school in Bayamón, Álvarez began his acting career on the radio. He has worked on successful programs such as El tremendo hotel (with Ramón Rivero , José Luis Torregosa and Rafael Agudo ), appeared in radio soaps under the direction of Edmundo Rivera Álvarez , edited stories by Abelardi Díaz Alfaro for the radio and produced the series Teatro del Mundo . For this he adapted dramas in which he also appeared himself.
Francisco Arriví brought him to the theater, and he participated in its productions Club de solteros , Caso del muerto en vida and María Soledad . At the Festival de Teatro des Instituto de Cultura he represented the actor Jacobo Morales , who was unable to attend due to illness, at the world premiere of Edmundo Rivera Alvarez's play El cielo se rindió al amanecer . With Juano Hernández he appeared in the performance of Widows walk at the Teatro de la Universidad de Puerto Rico .
Álvarez became internationally known as a cinema actor. He made 34 films in nine years and worked with fellow actors like Mario Moreno , Arturo de Córdova , Marga López , Tarzo , Fernando and Mapy Cortés . As a director, he made the films Arocho y Clemente , Dos contra el destino and Natas es Satán for Columbia Pictures .
For television, Álvares worked as a voice actor and appeared in series and television films. As a comedian, he became known in the role of Johnny El Men . He had a leading role in Manuel Méndez Ballester's satire Los cocorocos in the 1970s . In the 1980s he had his own show on Canal 13 and worked in productions such as El Barrio Cuatro Calles and El kiosko Budweiser .
