Miguel Marques Gonçalves Manetelu (born May 5, 1969 ) is an East Timorese official and politician. He is a member of the Congresso Nacional da Reconstrução Timorense (CNRT) party. From 2015 to 2017 Manetelu was Vice Minister for Social Solidarity.

Manetelu comes from Maliana . Until 1988 he attended a school in Dili . Manetelu studied electrical engineering at Udayana University in Denpasar , Indonesia . He was a member of the student resistance movement Resistência Nacional dos Estudantes de Timor-Leste RENETIL ( German National Resistance Movement of the Students of East Timor ) against the Indonesian occupation of East Timor. From 1999 he was its general secretary, succeeding Fernando de Araújo .  

From August 8, 2007, Manetelu was State Secretary for Youth and Sport. As a result of the government reshuffle in 2015, he was sworn in as the new Vice Minister for Social Solidarity on February 16. When the VII government took office on September 15, 2017, his term in the cabinet ended. The CNRT went into the opposition after heavy losses in the parliamentary elections .

Private

Manetelu has been married since 1999. He is of the Catholic faith.
