society

Miguel Pinto started his career at CF Universidad de Chile and was a goalkeeper for the club in the Apertura 2002 for the first time in several games. As the third goalkeeper, he was used for the first time in the game against CSD Colo-Colo after an injury to the regular goalkeeper and number two . In the following years he developed behind Johnny Herrera to the second man between the posts. It was not until 2006, after Herrera was sold, that Pinto rose to become a regular player with many appearances in the Chilean championship. In 2007 he was named Player of the Year Universidad de Chile. His greatest success so far at club level was winning the Apertura 2009 and the games at the Copa Libertadores 2009 . In the qualifying round, he eliminated CF Pachuca with the club due to the away goals rule and ended Group 7 with opponents Gremio Porto Alegre , Boyacá Chicó FC and Club Aurora in second place. In the round of 16 he lost 3-1 to Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte .

At the beginning of 2011, Pinto switched to Atlas Guadalajara in Mexico on loan , which signed him a year later. With Atlas he played in the league in MX to stay in class. At the beginning of 2014 he was loaned to UAT Correcaminos in the Ascenso MX until mid-2015 . After his return he stayed with Atlas for six months, during which he was deployed five times. At the beginning of 2016 he switched to Ascenso MX on loan to Cafetaleros de Tapachula . In mid-2016 he left Mexico and returned to Chile, where he was signed by CD O'Higgins . He has been under contract with CSD Colo-Colo since the beginning of 2020 .

National team

Pinto was active for the A-Elf of the Chilean national soccer team from 2006 to 2012. Before that, he played in the country's youth teams and took part in the Campeonato Sudamericano Sub-20 in 2003. In 2006 he made his senior national team debut against Ivory Coast . In 2007, the then coach Nelson Acosta nominated him as the third goalkeeper for the Copa America . However, Pinto waived because he did not want to go to the tournament as number 3. When the Argentine Marcelo Bielsa took over the Chilean team soon afterwards , this Pinot made number two behind Claudio Bravo . The new coach qualified for the finals of the 2010 World Cup , for which Pinto was appointed to the Chilean squad in May 2010 . A year earlier, Pinto had the opportunity to excel at the Kirin Cup in Japan. But the goalkeeper conceded five goals in two games. In South Africa, the team made it to the round of 16 and was eliminated from Brazil. Pinto was not used during the entire tournament.
