Mihaela Martin
Mihaela Martin (* 1958 in Romania ) is a Romanian violinist and university teacher .
Life
Mihaela Martin completed her violin studies with Ștefan Gheorghiu , a student of George Enescu and David Oistrach . As a 1st prize winner of the "International Violin Competition of Indianapolis" in 1982 she made her debut soon after at New York's Carnegie Hall and the Washington Library of Congress . She has appeared as a soloist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra , the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Orchester symphonique de Montréal ; as a chamber musician, Mihaela Martin a. a. with Martha Argerich , Elisabeth Leonskaja , Yuri Bashmet , Leon Fleisher and Menahem Pressler and is the Primaria of the "Michelangelo String Quartet", where she performs with Daniel Austrich , Nobuko Imai and Frans Helmerson . She teaches as a professor at the Cologne University of Music and Dance , the Geneva University of Music and the Kronberg Academy.
