Mihran Hakobjan is a son of the sculptor and Armenian freedom fighter Armen Hakobjan (1941–1990).

From 2000 to 2006 he studied sculpture at the National Art School in Yerevan (Armenia). After obtaining the diploma with honors, he worked in his profession in Armenia and Russia, took part in several exhibitions in Stepanakert and Yerevan. In 2001 he became a member of the Artists Association of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic . In 2011 he took part in an international sculpture symposium in Şuşa . Hakobjan's artistic field of work is sculptures in stone and wood as well as sculptures in bronze .

He then studied Polish Philology as a Foreign Language at the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice from 2010 to 2013 . In 2012 Hakobjan received a grant from the Polish Kulczyk Foundation. Their scholarship holders are selected by a board of trustees formed by professors from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan .

On behalf of the director of the Collegium Polonicum, Krzysztof Wojciechowski , Hakobjan created the Wikipedia monument in Słubice, the Polish city neighboring Frankfurt on the Oder. The memorial was unveiled on October 22, 2014 on Plac Frankurcki (Frankfurter Platz). The project was financed by the city of Słubice in the amount of 62,000 złoty .

Mihran Hakobjan also deals with the animated film genre, especially with clay figure films. His cartoon Зонтик ("Umbrella") based on a story by Leonid Engibarjan won the 2013 audience award at the Short Film Fund in Moscow.
