Mika Kares

Mika Kares (born 1978 in Laitila ) is a Finnish opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Kares studied singing with Roland Hermann at the Sibelius Academy . From 2005 to 2010 he was a member of the ensemble of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe , where he developed a broad repertoire. Kares sang King Philip in Don Carlos and Sarastro in the Magic Flute , Colline in La Bohème , Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor , Massimiliano Moor in Verdi's I masnadieri , the Komtur in Don Giovanni and - as the first Wagner roles - Fafner in Rheingold and Siegfried , as well as Hunding in Die Walküre .

In 2008 he made his debut as Mefistofele at the Savonlinna Opera Festival , in 2010 as König in Aida at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki, and in 2011 as Polyphemus in Acis et Galatée at the Salzburg Mozart Week . Kares has also made guest appearances in Hong Kong, Vienna, Paris and Rome, sang under the direction of Lorin Maazel and Zubin Mehta and was cover at the Met.
