Roland Hermann
Roland Hermann (born September 17, 1936 in Bochum ) is a German opera singer ( baritone ) and lecturer at the Karlsruhe University of Music .
Life
Roland Hermann attended the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau , Mainz and Frankfurt am Main. He completed his vocal training with Margarete von Winterfeldt , Paul Lohmann and Flaminio Contini . In 1961 he was awarded first prize in the competition for German radio stations.
Hermann made his operatic debut as Mozart's Figaro in Trier in 1967 , then moved to the Zurich Opera , whose ensemble he had been a member of since 1968. Hermann also sang in Munich , Cologne , Buenos Aires , Paris , Berlin and other cities. Engagements as a soloist with orchestras and as a singer with piano accompaniment have taken him to music centers in Europe, the United States (debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in 1983), and the Far East.

In addition to the usual roles in his field - the title role in Don Giovanni , Wolfram in Tannhäuser , Germont in La traviata and Amfortas in Parsifal - he sang in rarely performed works:
- Heinrich Marschner : The vampire
- Robert Schumann : Genoveva
- Ferruccio Busoni : Doctor Faust
- Arnold Schönberg : Moses and Aron
- Werner Egk : Peer Gynt
Hermann also sang the leading roles in several world premieres, including:
- Rudolf Kelterborn : The Cherry Orchard (Zurich 1984)
- York Höller : The Master and Margarita (Paris 1989)
