Mika Keränen (born November 24, 1973 in Helsinki ) is an Estonian children's author of Finnish origin and translator of Estonian literature into Finnish.

Life

Keränen graduated from high school in Kitee ( North Karelia ) in 1992 and then took up training at the horticultural school in Ilomantsi , which he did not graduate. A degree at the Estonian University of Environmental Sciences in Tartu also remained without a degree, but his studies at the University of Tartu , which he completed in 1999 in Estonian as a foreign language , were successful .

From 2002 to 2006 Keränen worked at the Finland Institute in Estonia, and since 2006 he has lived in Tartu as a freelance writer and Finnish teacher. In 2018 he is the city clerk of the university town.

He is a member of the Estonian Writers' Union .

Keränen initially published poetry and was present in Estonian literary life at an early stage, as evidenced by his mention in a literary history published in 2001. However, he achieved the greatest success with his children's books, the first of which came out in 2008. Since then he has published more books in quick succession.

Keränen translated u. a. Works by Mehis Heinsaar , Andrus Kivirähk , Hasso Krull and Veiko Märka in Finnish. In addition to Estonian, his own books are also available in Finnish and Latvian.
