Mike Bartel

Mike Bartel (born January 11, 1962 in Pforzheim ; † February 2, 2017 ) was a journalist and writer .

Life

In 1980, Bartel left the Königsbach (Enzkreis) high school with the secondary school leaving certificate to do a traineeship at the Badische Neuesten Nachrichten (BNN). Since 1986 he has worked in the editorial department of the Pforzheimer Kurier , a local edition of the BNN. Bartel began writing in 1996. He writes satires, glosses and irrelevant poetry. In 1998 he was awarded the sponsorship award from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Art. In 1998 his first book was published with the title "Fräulein Müller's instinct for genetically manipulated garden gnomes". In addition to other books, there have been several publications in newspapers ( Süddeutsche Zeitung , taz , Eulenspiegel ) on radio (SWR2), on Deutsche Bahn trains and on toilet paper. In 2002 Bartel was the first to publish books (with ISBN) in the form of toilet paper , the so-called toilet paper literature. Soon after, however, he returned to book publishing in the traditional form. Bartel was a member of the Association of German Writers (VS).

The editor-in-chief of the Pforzheimer Kurier died after a short serious illness at the age of 55. He left behind his wife and two daughters.

Trivia

In 2006, Henryk M. Broder reported on a “torture” reading in Berlin that Bartel attended; Bartel then called the journalist a "wimp".
