Michael Steven "Mike" Casselman (* 23. September 1968 in Morrisburg , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , who, among other things in his time from 1987 to 2004 Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League , and the EV Landshut , the Munich Barons , Hanover Scorpions and Moskitos Essen played in the DEL .
Career
Mike Casselman began his career as an ice hockey player on the Clarkson University team , where he was active from 1987 to 1991. During this period he was selected in the 1990 NHL Supplemental Draft as the third player by the Detroit Red Wings , for which he never played. Instead, he was in the 1991/92 season for Toledo Storm in the East Coast Hockey League on the ice, before he ran from 1992 to 1995 for Detroit's farm team from the American Hockey League , the Adirondack Red Wings . On October 31, 1995, the attacker received a contract as a free agent with the Florida Panthers , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League on February 24, 1996 , with no point and punishment in three games. The left-handed shooter spent the rest of the season with Florida's AHL farm team, the Carolina Monarchs .
On September 24, 1997, Casselman was hired by the San Jose Sharks as a free agent after he had played for their farm team, the Cincinnati Cyclones from the International Hockey League , the previous year. In the 1997/98 season, Casselman stood for both the Cyclones in the IHL and the Rochester Americans in the AHL on the ice. After the season the Canadian moved to EV Landshut in the DEL . After he sold his DEL license following the 1998/99 season, the winger joined the newly founded Munich Barons , with whom he became German champions in the 1999/2000 season . He contributed to this success with twelve points scorer as the top scorer of the DEL playoffs. After winning the championship title, Casselman left Munich and played for a year each for the Hanover Scorpions and the Mosquitos Essen , with the latter leaving the latter due to their license withdrawal. He ended his career at his ex-club Cincinnati Cyclones, for which he was on the ice until 2004 in the ECHL, which Cincinnati was accepted into after the IHL was dissolved in 2001.
