Mike Gabriel

Michael "Mike" Gabriel (born November 5, 1954 in Long Beach , California ) is an American animator and film director .

Life

Gabriel studied animation at CalArts and came to Disney Animations in 1979, where he worked as an assistant on the film Cap and Capper . As an animator, he was involved in Walt Disney's Fun with Mr. Future in 1982 , later followed by Disney animated films such as Taran and the Magic Cauldron (1985), Basil, the great mouse detective (1986) and Oliver & Co. (1988). With Hendel Butoy , Gabriel first directed Bernard and Bianca im Kangaroo Land , which appeared in 1990 . His last directorial work so far was the animated short film Lorenzo , for which Gabriel received an Oscar nomination in 2005 in the category Best Animated Short Film .
