Mike Kjølø (born October 27, 1971 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian football player . The defender came to the Norwegian national team in 2000 .

Career

Kjølø started playing football at Romsås IL in 1977 . After ten years, he moved to Strømmen IF as a junior player in 1987 . In 1988 the club was promoted to the 1st Divisjon , the top division of its home country. After the direct relegation Kjølø played until the end of the 1990 season for the club in the second division.

In 1991 Kjølø moved to league rivals Skeid Oslo . With his new employer, he returned to the Norwegian House of Lords in 1995. Here he played two seasons before he was lured to AIK in Sweden by coach Stuart Baxter before the start of the 1998 season . There he was able to establish himself as a regular in the defense and won the Swedish championship title in his first year. In the following year he survived the qualification for the Champions League with the team and met with AIK at FC Barcelona , FC Arsenal and Fiorentina . Although only one point was won, which meant the direct elimination after the group stage, the year was also crowned by winning the Svenska Cup .

Despite the success, Kjølø returned to Norway in 2000 and signed a contract with Stabæk Fotball . Before the start of the season he made his debut in the Norwegian national team when they met the Swedish national team on February 4th during a stay in Spain in La Manga del Mar Menor in front of 600 spectators . The 1-1 draw with goals from John Carew and Anders Andersson was ultimately Kjølø's only game in the national shirt.

In 2004 Kjølø rose with Stabæk Fotball as penultimate from the Tippeligaen, but remained loyal to the club in the Adeccoligaen and managed the direct promotion with the team. In the 2008 season he won the Norwegian championship with the club, but his contract was not extended after the end of the season.
