Mike Krepper

Michael "Mike" Krepper (born March 23, 1951 in Beaumont (Texas) ; † February 19, 2020 in Dallas ) was an American jazz musician ( saxophone , clarinet ).

Live and act

Krepper graduated from Beaumont High School and Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He got a job at Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tennessee; there he worked from 1980 to 2000 as the head of the school band and music teacher. He then entered the Memphis public school system and taught there until his retirement in 2019. He also played in the band The King Beez , the Memphis Jazz Orchestra , the Men in Black, Natchez and several other groups with which he performed in the United States. He has also played with greats like Johnny Mathis , Tony Bennett , Aretha Franklin and Otis Williams from The Temptations . According to Tom Lord, Krepper was involved in recordings of The Memphis Jazz Orchestra in 2000/2001, as well as with the Jazz Orchestra of the Delta , the Dave Lisik Orchestra ( Coming Through Slaughter: The Bolden Legend ), James Austin ( A Tribute to Nat King Cole , 1999) and in the production of WC Handy ’s Beale Street - Where the Blues Began (2002).
