Mike McKee (racing driver)

Michael "Mike" McKee (born August 22, 1933 in Steyning ) is a former British racing car driver and gallery owner . He is the grandfather of Melville McKee .

Career

Mike McKee enjoyed success in Formula Libre in the early 1960s . In 1960 he won the Vanwall Trophy on a Cooper T45 , took first place in the Aintree Trophy and finished sixth in the Lavant Cup . The Monaco Grand Prix, the Formula Junior 1961 he finished on a Lotus 20 in fourth.

In sports cars, he mainly competed in national races in Great Britain. 1961 he went along with Cliff Allison at the 24-hour race at Le Mans in the race, which he after an engine failure at the Lotus Elite was forced to retire.

Monaco Fine Arts

In 1976 McKee founded the Monaco Fine Arts gallery in Monte Carlo , which today is one of the most famous on the Côte d'Azur .
