Mikko Ruutu (born September 10, 1978 in Vantaa ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player . He is the younger brother of Jarkko and the older brother of Tuomo Ruutu .

Career

Mikko Ruutu started his career in the 1998/99 season with the club HIFK Helsinki in the Finnish SM-liiga .

In the 1999 NHL Entry Draft , Ruutu was selected in the seventh round as 201st by the Ottawa Senators , but the 1999/2000 season at Clarkson University in the NCAA league was his only one in North America.

From 2000 to 2003 he played for the Finnish club Jokerit Helsinki , but then had to end his career due to a spinal fracture .

He is currently a scout for Finland with the Ottawa Senators .
