Mikołaj Abramowicz , also Mikołaj Abrahamowicz († February 1651 ) was a general of the Lithuanian artillery and later voivode of Mścisław and Troki .

Life

Mikołaj Abramowicz was born the son of voivod Jan Abramowicz and was given to the Radziwiłł court for training in 1603 .

During the Polish-Swedish War he fought as a general ( Polish starszy nad armią ) from 1621 to 1622 under the leadership of Krzysztof Radziwiłł in Courland . In 1625 he captured the bridgehead on the Daugava near Riga . In 1626 and 1627 he took part in campaigns against the Swedes in Pomerania and Prussia .

In 1631, as a supporter of Calvinism , he handed over his court in Sluzk to the Lithuanian Evangelical Synod .

During the Smolensk War , he led an infantry regiment from January 1633, which belonged to the relief armies of Krzysztof Radziwiłł. During the negotiations for the peace of Polanów , Mikołaj Abramowicz was commissioner and enjoyed high confidence from Władysław IV. Wasa . Thus he received numerous in the following years. In 1638 he was cupbearer of Lithuania (Polish cześnik litewski ), in 1639 castellan of Mścisław and in 1643 voivode of Mścisław.

In 1646 he surrendered the city of Trubchevsk to Tsarist Russia at the king's behest , although it had been awarded to Poland-Lithuania in the Peace of Polanów . Therefore, he was fined and exiled by the Lithuanian Tribunal. However, this sentence was not carried out.

In 1647 he became voivode of Troki and took part in negotiations with Sweden the following year as commissioner .

He died in February 1651.

He was married to the Calvinist Ewa, the widow of Aleksander Massalski , and had three children with her: Samuel Abramowicz , Stanisław Abramowicz and Katarzyna.

His second wife was Elżbieta from the Hornostaj house , Andrzej Drohojowski's widow .
