Milan Ramljak

Milan Ramljak (born September 29, 1938 in Čitluk near Posušje ; † January 25, 2018 in Zagreb ) was a Croatian politician and diplomat .

Life

Ramljak received his doctorate in 1979 from the Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb , where he worked as a professor from 1986 and taught administrative sciences . He was also employed at the law faculties of the University of Osijek , the University of Rijeka and the University of Split . From 1986 to 1989 he was President of the Association for Administrative Sciences and Practice of Croatia. From May 1990 to August 1992 he was the Deputy Prime Minister of Croatia. In this role he was also involved in the decision to achieve Croatia's independence from Yugoslavia . Between 1994 and 1998 he was the Croatian ambassador to Austria . From May 1998 to April 1999 he was Croatian Minister of Justice, but then resigned. In 2001/2002 he was deployed as ambassador to Germany . In 2002 he resigned from his position as ambassador due to dissatisfaction with the policy of the Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino Picula .

His funeral took place on January 30, 2018 in the presence of the Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and the Mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić .
