The Kaunas Milk Combine ( Lithuanian Kauno pieno Kombatas ) was a milk processing company in Lithuania based in Kaunas . The company employed 3,500 people (1977). "Kauno pienas", which was later founded by the combine, was listed on the Vilnius stock exchange.

history

In 1936 the Kaunas municipal dairy was founded. From 1951 it belonged to the Trest of Kaunas butter and cheese industry with 26 butter factories . In 1957, the so-called "Kaunas Interdistrict Butter and Cheese Base " ( Kauno Tarpapskritinė sviesto - sūrių bazė ) and the Kaunas City Dairy were closed and the Kaunas Milk Combine was established in Soviet Lithuania . In 1972 the exploration of the new Kaunas dairy began. In the combine there were 12 milk processing plants in different regions. In 1978 the Kaunas Milk Combine consisted of the butter factories in Alytus , Kėdainiai , Prienai , Raseiniai , Jurbarkas , Lazdijai , Virbalis and the dairies in Babtai , Jonava , Kaišiadorys , Kapsukas and Lukšiai . In 1981, the milk processing plants in Kapsukas, Lazdijai, Lukšiai and Virbalis became part of Kapsuko pieno konservų Kombatas . In 1988 the Jurbarkas butter factory became part of Kapsuko pieno konservų Kombatas.

In 1990 the Kaunas State Milk Combine was established. In 1992 it was reorganized with the Kaunas State Dairy based on the decision of the Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture . On November 23, 1993 "Kauno pieno centras" was established and dissolved on March 9, 1994. In 1995 AB became "Kauno pienas" after the reorganization of the Kaunas State Milk Combine. On November 23, 2000, AB “Kauno pienas” became a subsidiary of AB “ Pieno žvaigždės ” after the reorganization. It was directed by Irena Gotautienė. Since June 4, 1996 there is an employee union in the branch. In 2014 there were 537 employees in the Kaunass branch of "Pieno žvaigždės".
