Military pharmacist

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The military pharmacist (also war - or military pharmacist ) is a pharmacist who is responsible for the pharmaceutical supply of armed forces. He is thus active in the military medical service.

Up until the second half of the 17th century there were no armies in the current sense and therefore no military doctors or pharmacists who were constantly on duty. It was only when the military began to be organized that military pharmacists appeared. In January 1798 he became Professor Dr. Sigismund Friedrich Hermbstädt general staff pharmacist with a peace salary of 500 Reichstalers , as the general surgeons obtained, was the first permanent pharmacist to be employed.

Today's military pharmacists are essentially active in three areas: practical and scientific pharmacy , sanitary materials management and food chemistry ( called military medical technology in the GDR ).
