The Baza Aeriană 86 Borcea is a military airfield of the Romanian Air Force , six km north of Borcea and eight km northwest of Feteşti . The base named after Gheorghe Mociorniţă is located in the Călărași district , about 40 km northeast of the district town.
history
From 1997 one of the MiG-21s stationed there began to prepare for deeper cooperation in the NATO alliance. In this context, it began with Israeli support in 2000 to convert to the modernized MiG-21 LanceR, on which it was operational in 2001.
After more than a decade in the troop service, the MiGs were withdrawn from the 86th air base and in 2016 the base became the base of the F-16s acquired second-hand .

The Romanian Baza 86 Aeriana has a flying squadron (as of 2018)
