Zlatko Blaškić (born April 27, 1982 in Sulzbach an der Murr ) is a former Croatian football player and today's coach.

Career

Blaškić started playing football at FV Sulzbach / Murr, later he was active for TSG Backnang in 1919 before moving to the Croatian top club Dinamo Zagreb as a B-youth . As a result, Blaškić took part in the U-16 European Championship in 1999 in the Czech Republic with the Croatian U16 national team around the later record national player Darijo Srna and came in the preliminary round against the two eventual finalists Spain and Poland to two parts; In the following years, some more junior international matches in the age groups U17 to U20 followed.

In 2003 he returned to Germany, playing for SG Sonnenhof Großaspach in the Württemberg Association . To the association league championship in the 2004/05 season and the associated promotion to the Oberliga Baden-Wuerttemberg , the midfielder contributed with 13 goals this season and was the best goalscorer of his team. During the break of the season he switched to the professional field for the second division Kickers Offenbach . For the Offenbach professional team Blaškić came on December 21, 2005 in the DFB Cup eighth final against Hansa Rostock for his only competitive game. Substituted on in the 117th minute, he was sent off just one minute later for a gross foul with a red card. Already in the winter break he returned to SG Sonnenhof Großaspach after six months and made 53 appearances and seven goals in the major league in the following two and a half seasons.

From 2008 he played for the association league club FSV 08 Bissingen , in 2010 he moved on to his youth club, the national league club TSG Backnang 1919. There he ended his active football career in December 2013 in order to focus on his professional obligations and his role as A youth coach at TSG, as well as his role as one of three scouts (alongside Valentin Herr and Wolfgang Sandhowe ) of the second division SV since 2013 Focus on Sandhausen . In 2015 he was promoted to the association relay with the A-youth and then took over the second team of TSG Backnang, which he led to promotion to the district league in 2016 and the district cup final in 2017, after which he ended his activity at TSG Backnang. After he had already taken over the post of head scout in 2016 at the ex-club Sonnenhof Großaspach, which has meanwhile been promoted to the third division, he became assistant trainer at Großaspach in June 2017 under head coach Sascha Hildmann .

At the beginning of October 2018, after Hildmann's dismissal, Blaškić took over the interim coaching position at Großaspach and looked after the team on October 8, 2018 in a 0-0 draw at the Würzburger Kickers . On October 17, 2018 Florian Schnorrenberg took over as head coach. Since the second half of the 2018/19 season, Blaškić was mainly responsible for analyzing opponents. In mid-November 2019, Blaškić's contract at Großaspach was terminated with immediate effect because, according to the association, "the relationship of trust between him, the head coach [note: Oliver Zapel ] and the sporting leadership was no longer given to the extent that [... ] that is necessary for constructive and successful cooperation ”.

On December 13, 2019, the Württemberg league club 1. FC Normannia Gmünd announced that Blaškić would be their new head coach.
