Milunka Lazarević (married Milunka Marković ; born on December 1, 1932 in Šantarovac (today incorporated into Jagodina ); died on December 15, 2018 in Belgrade ) was a Yugoslav , later Serbian, chess player .

Milunka Lazarević's father and brother were avid chess players, and she started playing chess at the age of 14. Since the Chess Olympiad took place in Dubrovnik in 1950 , interest in chess in Yugoslavia increased enormously, and the youth chess was intensively promoted. In 1950 Milunka Lazarević joined the Novi Sad chess club . Between 1952 and 1982 she was eleven times Yugoslav national champion in chess. She represented her country on the first board at six women's chess Olympiads . In 1963 she won the silver medal in Split with Yugoslavia, only half a point behind the Soviet Union. Her greatest success was the shared victory at the 1964 women's candidates' tournament in Sukhumi together with Alla Kuschnir and Tatyana Satulovskaya . The subsequent playoff for a place in the World Cup final against Nona Gaprindashvili finished second behind Alla Kuschnir. In 1976 she became the Grand Master of Women .

Milunka Lazarević was also an internationally recognized chess journalist, international referee and chess official. In particular, she campaigned for the promotion of women's chess in the world association FIDE .
