In the Gigantomachy Mimas was an opponent of Zeus and was killed in battle by Hercules .

Mimas is said to be buried under Mimas Mons , either a mountain on the Ionian coast north of Erythrai (today Boz Dağ with the city of Karaburun in Turkey ), or under a not precisely localized Thracian promontory adjacent to the Rhodope Mountains.

The Saturn moon Mimas was named after him.
