Euphorbos (giant)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Euphorbos ( Greek  Εὔφορϐος ) is the name of a giant from Greek mythology on one of several fragments of an Attic black-figure dinosaur , which was built between 575 and 550 BC. Was created. While the giants Pankrates , Ephial [tes] and Polybotes , which are also named there, are also known from other literary sources, Euphorbos such as Euboios, Oranion and probably two other giant names, which are only preserved here in fragments, are probably about spontaneous inventions of the painter of the vessel. Incidentally, due to the fragmentary state of preservation, the first letter of the name Euphorbos is also missing.

The picture shows the gigantomachy . The giants are in battle with Heracles , Athena , Zeus , Ares , Dionysus , Hermes , Artemis and Apollo .
