Polybotes ( Greek  Πολυβώτης ) is one of the giants in Greek mythology , whose parents are the primordial goddess Gaia and Uranos .

Polybotes fought on the side of the Giants, who had been instigated by her mother Gaia, against Zeus and the gods of Olympus to them in the Tartarus falling. He is an often cited example of strength and martial arts. Still, the giants lost. After this battle, Polybotes was chased across the seas by Poseidon . In the Greek sea, Poseidon is said to have broken off a piece of the island of Kos with his trident , thrown it at Polybotes and buried it under it.

Some myths tell that the island of Nisyros was created from this hurled fragment and that Polybotes was buried under it, others say that Polybotes was buried under Kos itself.
