action

Mimì is a worker near Catania in Sicily . As a communist, he would rather choose the communist candidate for mayor rather than the candidate recommended by the mafia and his boss. The latter benefits from purchased votes, so Mimì's father has already sold his and Mimì's votes. Mimì still chooses the communist, which is why the boss fires him. Because he can no longer find work in Catania, Mimì goes north to Turin without his wife , where he works as a construction worker.

Soon he comes into conflict with the local mafia until he identifies himself as a relative of a Sicilian godfather. They enable him to become a metal worker in industry. He meets the beautiful communist Fiore, who sells knitwear, and falls in love with her. After some recruiting, she becomes his partner and they have a child together. Mimì observes gangsters being murdered by other gangsters. The police asked him to testify, but he was silent. The mafia ends his stay in Turin and sends him back to Sicily. Mimì now secretly spends a lot of time with Fiore and neglects his wife. A mafioso offers to work for him; Mimì refuses for the time being. His wife sleeps with a police sergeant and becomes pregnant. That offends Mimì in his honor. He takes revenge by seducing the sergeant's wife and deliberately making her pregnant. One Sunday he announced to the sergeant on the church stairs that he had horned him as he had horned him. The indignant sergeant shoots at Mimì with his service weapon - which his wife has prudently unloaded beforehand - and is then shot by a mafia murderer who then pushes the pistol into Mimì's hand. This is now there as a murderer and is convicted. When he is released again, the women with many children are waiting for him; he wants to go back to prison. Now he begins to work for the Mafioso. He uses a megaphone to advertise the Mafia candidate. Fiore leaves him and he looks after her desperately.
