Mimi Jones

Mimi Jones (actually Miriam Sullivan , * 1972 in New York City ) is an American jazz musician ( double bass , vocals , composition).

Jones grew up in the Bronx and attended the Harlem School of the Arts, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. She earned a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Manhattan School of Music Conservatory . During her career she worked a. a. with Terri Lyne Carrington ( The Mosaic Project , 2011), Rebecca Coupe Franks , Tia Fuller and Rudy Royston . Her debut album A New Day (Hot Tone Music) was written between December 2007 and May 2008 . a. and Ambrose Akinmusire participated. The production Balance followed in 2012 (with Ingrid Jensen , Luis Perdomo, among others ). In the field of jazz, she was involved in 11 recording sessions between 2007 and 2015. On her label Hot Tone Music she released the debut album of the saxophonist Camille Thurman .
