Minden Village is a small town in southeast Queensland with a population of about 830. It is located about 60 km west of the Queensland capital Brisbane right next to the Warrego Highway towards Toowoomba .
Minden probably got its name after the German city of Minden in the 1870s, when numerous German immigrants settled there.
The settlements of Marburg , Prenzlau and Haigslea , which was once called Kirchheim, are located near the Queensland settlement of Minden .
Minden has had a school since 1878, which was initially attended by 19 students.
Apart from that, Minden has remained a rural, agricultural place. Today, however, many of its residents commute to work in the closer cities such as Ipswich and Brisbane .
In the vicinity, in the Warrego Valley, wine is also grown today; it is likely to be one of the world's closest wine - growing regions.
