Prenzlau is a town of 427 people in the Lockyer Valley area, in southeast Queensland , Australia . It is part of the LGA Somerset and very much shaped by agriculture. The place is located about 70 km west of Brisbane directly on the Warrego Highway .

This area was settled by German immigrants from the Uckermark , mainly from Prenzlau , at the end of the 19th century . The Prenzlau State School , founded in 1894, still exists today with around 30 students and German is still taught, among other things. From 1894 to 1968 there was a post office in Prenzlau.

In addition to Prenzlau, there are numerous other places founded by Germans, such as Minden and Marburg .
