history
The place was called Câşle until 1878 and was originally founded by the Tatars . Around 1800 Romanians from Bessarabia settled in the village. Mineri is a multiethnic village where Tatars, Turks, Romanians and Bulgarians live. Germans also lived here before 1940. They called the village Krischla.
The village owes the name Mineri to the barite deposits that were discovered here. The largest employer in town is the Combinat ALUM. The pollution is alarming from the released aluminum oxide that covers the village as red dust. Even the drinking water from the wells is inedible.
