The Ministry of Home Affairs ( MOHA or MoHA ; Malay Kementerian Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri , KHEDN ) is one of the ministries in Brunei . The Ministry is responsible for the administrative units, the cities, immigration, labor, fire and rescue services, prisons and rehabilitation facilities, as well as national disaster management. It is run by the Minister of Internal Affairs. The incumbent is Awang Abu Bakar bin Apong . The Ministry is based in Jalan James Pearce , Bandar Seri Begawan , Brunei

history

The Ministry of Internal Affairs was established on January 1, 1984, the same day Brunei gained independence from the British Empire and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah was officially the first Minister of Internal Affairs. During the restructuring of the cabinet in 1986, the Sultan handed over the office to Awang Isa bin Awang Ibrahim , the first civil official in this position.

The ministry is headed by the minister ( Malay menteri ) and is part of the Council of Cabinet Ministers , the executive branch of Brunei. The minister is supported by a ministerial council , to which two deputy ministerial councilors are subordinate. It is also divided into departments; the current division has existed since 1996 and comprises the following departments:

  • Immigration and National Registration Department , Malay Jabatan Imigresen dan Pendaftaran Kebangsaan
  • Labor Department , Malay Jabatan Buruh
  • Fire and Rescue Department , Malay Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat
  • Prison Department , Malay Jabatan Penjara
  • National Disaster Management Center , Malay Pusat Pengurusan Bencana Kebangsaan

The ministry's annual budget for 2018–19 was € 149 million. Brunei dollar (ringgit). In the previous year the budget was BR $ 132 million.
